About this site

Bond Atlas is a private fan site. It collects facts about the James Bond films, from plot and cast to budget and box office, and traces Bond’s travel route in each film on a map. A second layer shows where the crew actually shot, because filming locations often differ from the places in the story.

25 films are covered so far, from “Dr. No” (1962) to “No Time to Die” (2021), spanning the Connery era, Lazenby era, Moore era, Dalton era, Brosnan era and Craig era. More will follow.

Sources and method

Data comes from publicly available sources, mainly Wikipedia (German and English), MI6-HQ.com, 007.com, Box Office Mojo, The Numbers and location guides. Every film page lists the sources used. Synopses and texts are written in our own words. Coordinates of fictional places are approximations and marked as such. Where budget and box-office figures differ between sources, the English Wikipedia figure is used. Posters, life dates and portraits come from TMDB, Wikidata and Wikipedia.

Licences

The map uses vector tiles from OpenFreeMap based on OpenMapTiles; the underlying data comes from OpenStreetMap (ODbL). Place names follow the selected language wherever OpenStreetMap has a translation. Photos of locations and settings come from Wikimedia Commons under free licences; author and licence are shown with each image. The same applies to most portraits, which come from Wikimedia Commons via Wikidata. Short biographies come from Wikipedia under CC BY-SA 4.0, with the source linked on each person page.

Film posters and TMDB

Film posters and a few portraits come from The Movie Database (TMDB). Unlike the Wikimedia Commons photos they are not freely licensed: the rights remain with their respective owners. They are shown here at small size to identify the film or person in question, always next to the facts they document. This website uses TMDB and the TMDB APIs but is not endorsed, certified, or otherwise approved by TMDB.

This site is not affiliated with Eon Productions, Danjaq, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer or Amazon. “James Bond”, “007” and the film titles are trademarks of their respective owners and are used here descriptively only. The site is non-commercial and uses no trackers.
